Blind flange is one of the main products of Elite Piping Manufacture, and our company attaches great importance to the production and delivery of blind flange. The production processes are mainly divided into three types: forging, casting, and cutting.
The production and delivery of blind flange can be selected according to the different needs of customers
The Production And Delivery Of Blind Flange Are As Follows
Flanges cast from cast flanges and forged flanges have accurate blank shapes and dimensions, small processing volume, and low cost, but they have casting defects (pores, cracks, inclusions); the internal structure of the casting has poor streamlined structure (if it is a cutting part, streamlined Worse); Forged flanges are less likely to rust than cast flanges because of their lower carbon content. Forgings have better streamlines, denser structures, and better mechanical properties than cast flanges. Improper forging processes can also cause large or uneven grains and hardening cracks. Phenomenon, the cost of forging is higher than that of casting flange.
Comparison Of Castings And Forgings
The shear force and tensile force of forgings are higher than those of castings. The advantage of castings is that the shape of the products produced is more complex than that of forgings and the production cost is low. The advantage of forgings is that they have uniform internal structure and do not have some harmful defects like pores and inclusions .
Based on comprehensive considerations,our company generally chooses the forging production method to produce blind flanges.
Blind Flange Forging Process
The production of blind flanges requires the selection of high-quality steel billets for blanking, heating, forming, and cooling after forging. The main forging process methods are free forging, die forging, and film forging. The choice of forging method during production needs to be determined based on the quality of the forgings and the size of the production batch. Free forging has low productivity and large machining allowances, but the tools are simple and versatile, so it is widely used for forging single pieces and small batches of forgings with relatively simple shapes.
Free forging equipment includes air hammers, steam-air hammers and hydraulic presses, which are suitable for the production of small, medium and large forgings respectively. Die forging has high productivity, simple operation, and easy mechanization and automation. Die forgings have high dimensional accuracy, small machining allowances, and more reasonable fiber tissue distribution, which can further increase the service life of the parts.
Blind Flange Inspection
- Appearance inspection: The inner and outer surfaces of the flange are smooth and free of cracks, delamination, folding, hair lines, scars and other defects that affect the use of the flange.
- Geometric dimension inspection: The flange meets the corresponding standard size requirements, and the wall thickness of the butt-welded end of the carbon steel flange is guaranteed to have a tolerance of 0-12.5%.
- Hardness test: One furnace of steel, one heat treatment batch, one type, one specification, 10% (not less than 2 pieces) of flanges are tested for hardness. The maximum hardness allowed for any component is 240HV10.
- The flange butt welding end, sealing surface and neck need to be 100% MT tested in accordance with NB/T47013, and qualified for Level I.
Marking, Painting Protection And Transportation
- Marking: Mark according to manufacturing standards and project requirements.
- Paint protection: Paint according to project requirements.
- Packaging and shipping: After the goods are inspected and found to be correct, they will be packaged and shipped uniformly.
Blind Flange Packaging
- There are 6 pieces of blind flanges per box, with a wooden box for symmetrical layout and a cover plate. The lifting position is marked on the box and the forklift position is reserved;
- The parts and the box are relatively fixed with wooden blocks;
- There should be no direct contact between parts, and parts should be separated by wooden blocks or similar packaging materials;
- All machined surfaces should be coated with oil and wrapped with stretch film and fixed with tape;
- After loading, the box needs to be fixed to the carriage
Delivery Methods
Our delivery methods are mainly the following two:
After the processing and production are completed, we will pack the entire container directly at the factory and transport it by truck to the designated location for delivery.
After the goods are processed and quality inspected, they are transported to the designated warehouse and then directly sent to the port, where they are packed and shipped. (Customers can specify the warehouse directly or choose our warehouse.)
Transportation Method
We will choose the appropriate transportation method based on the size of the order, the distance of the transportation route, and the customer’s needs. This mainly includes sea transportation, air transportation, and land transportation.
Generally, we choose sea transportation for flange transportation. The advantages of sea transportation are:
- Low cost
Ocean shipping can transport large quantities of goods in bulk and has relatively low operating costs. In addition, the transportation distance of sea freight is also longer than other modes of transportation.
- Large transportation volume
Ocean shipping can carry large quantities of cargo, including large and heavy cargo.
3. Environmental protection
Ship emissions are relatively low, and the ocean can absorb and break down some pollutants.
- High reliability
Sea transportation is more reliable than other modes, such as land and air transportation.
5. Wide global coverage
Ocean shipping is a global transportation method that can cover all parts of the world.
The production and delivery of blind flange are crucial links in the transaction of blind flanges. We will do our best to ensure the smooth progress of these two links.You can choose the method of production and delivery of blind flange according to your needs.
